Publication of the newsletter began in January 2008 as The Gazette which served the York Rite bodies of Arlington, Texas. In 2009, the name of the newsletter was changed to The Keystone. In January 2015, The Keystone formally changed its target audience from the Arlington York Rite bodies to the wider York Rite community of Tarrant County, and became an official publication of the Tarrant County York Rite Association.
